The goals of The Company Rep Outreach are far-reaching, seeking to
respond to the needs of a multi-cultural, multi-class, and
multi-lingual community. TCR company members and volunteers bring a
wealth of resources allowing us to develop programs beyond the norm of
other theater ensembles. Our actors are computer programmers, editors,
managers, independent business owners and of course…educators
The Company Rep is now gearing up for the 2003-2004 school year.

Children's Theatre Program
Why develop a children's theatre
program at The Company Rep?
Although there are all sorts of answers
to that question, the one answer that strikes a cord with me is this:
Children are the future.
Now, I know your eyes are probably
glazing over, your stomach clinching at the sound of that horribly
hackneyed cliché. But, in this case it's the best and only way to put
it. If we don't draw children into theatre today, there will be no
audience tomorrow. Theatre will die out.
Now I'm not saying that you should force
your child to endure yet another museum piece. It's not about the ritual
of "going to the theatre" because you "should", it's
about giving children an theatre experience that will have them excited
about coming back. There is no other art form as alive and vital as
theatre. Although film and television certainly entertain, they don't
engage a child like theatre can. It's unpredictable and electric. It
entertains the child, while engaging their imagination. It gives them a
chance to be part of the experience. That is why we're starting up a
children's theatre program here at the Company Rep. It is an exciting
time. I hope your whole family will be able to share it with us.
